The Big Dig

Chris and Georgia decided to dig her first snow tunnel. We had plenty of residual snow from our Valentine's Day Blizzard plus the extra three inches that fell yesterday. She tired early in the excavation and was only too happy to pose for these shots once she had supervised the process.

I like my Blizzards from Dairy Queen....

Nothing says love like 15 inches of snow! That is what I got for Valentine's Day this year. Chris got a day off after an unsuccessful attempt at navigating the highway, which was blocked by an overturned eighteen wheeler. We watched the snow fall all Tuesday while it slowly snowed us in. Georgia was out of school for three days. While you wouldn't think that just over a foot of the stuff would immobilize an area, especially one so accustomed to it, but there is a little thing called "drift."

The winds that ranged from 25 to gusts of 68 mph (according to the news) blew our snow into nice big piles that ranged from 3 to 5 feet high. It took Chris three hours to shovel out the driveway which depth was thigh-deep. Our four foot fence nearly disappeared in some places. Don't laugh if you are reading this and used to seeing this sight. It is a new thing for us! I haved always loved snow, but I am so over it!

Balloon Girl

All of Georgia's birthday balloons are stating to deflate, so I snapped these pictures of her playing inside the tangled mass.

Pink Princess Extravaganza

Georgia is now 5 and we celebrated her birthday with a Princess Dress-Up Party. Honey and G.P. (my parents) flew up and helped to transform our basement into a space fit for a princess. Eleven of them in fact. It seemed that the house was bursting with little girls joyfully dressed in their finest princess regalia who eagerly slathered themselves with makeup, lip gloss and glittery nail polish. After donning feather boas and decorating pink princess hats and wands with jewels and stickers, they played Pin the Kiss on the Frog, and added more make up.
A petite princess power struggle was overheard by the makeup mirror between Georgia and her good friend, Olivia.
G: "I'm pretty."
O: "I'm the prettiest."
G: "No, I'm the prettiest."
O: "We are both the prettiest."

Too cute! Georgia blew out the candles on her castle cake and the royalty then dined on pink cupcakes and juice, opened presents and the whirlwind affair was over. Everyone had a blast and Georgia was super excited that she had carte blanche to apply as much makeup as she wanted. After witnessing all the girl fun, the few moms that stayed decided that maybe we needed to have a princess dress-up party of our own!
