Anyone who thinks that we are just lazing away the summer better have another think coming. This was today...
8:30am--We started our day with Mommy's trip to Sonic. She must be appropriately caffeinated, or there will be problems.
9:00am--Then onto the pool for swimming lessons. Georgia is working on her front crawl stroke and keeping her face in the water and Brody, well he seems to have turned into a cat, because he is very water-hesitant for some reason.
10:00am--Kids are dry and changed and must be harboring tape worms since they are always hungry. I of course forgot to throw something in the bag, thinking they can make it until 1130am--but no.
10:07am--We stop at Aldi (this tiny grocery store up here) for something to snack on. Our basket has Cheez-its, shark-shaped fruit gummies, a slim-jim, and a bottle of wine. Wine, at 10am, you ask? Yes. It has an owl on the label, I think it is cute and it is only $2.99. I am sure it will taste like kitchen cleaner, but it has a very cute label and it was only $2.99! You can't even get Boone's Farm for that anymore, or can you?
10:14am--The selected slim jim was hot-flavored and now both kids have finished off my diet dr. pepper.
10:30am--We meet the president of the sorority advisory board to purchase a new flat screen for their chapter room. The salesman puts on cartoons so all is right in kidland.
10:58am--I need tomato cages! My plants are growing huge and I didn't get any when I planted the darn things. The kids need pumpkin plants! We can grow our own jack o'lantern...why not?! We look around and Georgia is admiring the succulents which are always next to shelves of tiny cacti that are almost too cute not to touch. But no one has told Brody not to touch this pretty hot pink cactus. Teeny thorns are all in tiny fingers. He consoles himself by running up and down the rows of plants under the sprinklers.
11:19am--I pay for my plants and notice that Brody is now dancing in front of a sprinkler head and is soaked from head to toe. The clerk laughs and says he must have needed a bath. I think "Yeah, dumb ass, we can't afford the new rate hikes with Amerin and this is the way we cut back during a recession!", but choose to say, " Yes, I will bring him back tomorrow before he goes to bed."
11:23am--Text the husband for info on the golf grips he needs from this side of town because he is not answering my calls.
11:39am--Bribe kids with McDonald's
11:50am--Give up and head home.
12:02pm--Pull 10 microscopic thorns out of Brody's finger. Apply 3 pity band-aids.
12:15pm--Throw all the wet swimsuits and towels in the dryer.
12:16-1:47pm--Complete miscellaneous tasks around the house.
1:48pm--Remember to eat something. Kids hungry again and are begging for snacks.
1:55pm--Struggle to get everyone in swimsuits. Look for Brody's lost flip flop.
2:06pm--Load car and head back to the pool
4:10pm--Leave pool. Rinse kids of chlorine.
4:50pm--Make Georgia a smoothie and get her dressed for soccer.
5:00-5:34pm--Read a library book to Brody over and over.
5:35pm--At Soccer field. Brody has a meltdown because he can't play out of my eyesight where he wants.
7:01pm--Leave field and hit Sonic Half-Priced Burger Night
7:45pm--Plant a few plants in the garden. Struggle with tomato cages that are too small! This means a return trip to Lowe's tomorrow. Aaaagghhh!
8:20pm--Mom declares that she is off the clock.
